There’s Nothing but Now

Too often, we’re busy rehashing the past trying to deal with it. But there’s nothing to deal with–it’s no longer existing.

Or… We’re busy putting our minds in the future, a place that also doesn’t exist:

We only have so much effort lying dormant within us. It’s there, and it’s power to be reckoned with, but it can only be expressed in the moment you’re in. When other moments infuse your consciousness, your energy is dissipated to places that produce no returns.

Your energy needs to be channeled into the now, right now.

Could you imagine being a business man investing money into stocks that no longer exist? People would say you’re an ass. Hell… I’d say you’re an ass. But worst of all, you’d receive absolutely no returns.

So you have to apply that precious, holy energy within you into the now: Through your thoughts, actions and words. Done wisely, fulfillment occurs.

I promise that you’ll only ever be in one moment at a time. And you’ll only ever be able to influence one moment at a time, this will never, ever change from now until your death bed. That’s simplicity at work, isn’t it? Why make the simple complicated? Apply this in your life and reap supreme rewards.

The problem is that sometimes we’re focusing on the least of things instead of the greatest of things. The greatest of things are the opportunities we’re immersed in, right now. The least of things are stuff that no longer exists and holds no value to us.

But you can wake up to all the possibilities. You must.

Committing to living in the present moment is the simplest choice you can make. Not easy, but simple. Think of it this way–you can either live in the present moment or you can live in other moments.

By living in the present moment we’re allowing ourselves to be the very best we can be, which is vital to our world:

“Those who choose to do the best they can with what they have, create a better life for everyone.” ~Ralph Marston

Being present means focusing on business that’s pertinent right now and nothing else. You can do that right now. You only have right now.

When you internalize the present is all that you got, you then put everything you have into it, gaining more than you ever thought possible.

Good call, how can you appreciate that waterfall if you’re thinking about what you’re having for dinner, how can you enjoy a night out if you’re looking for the perfect Facebook photo opportunity, how can you do anything if you’re not really there…

@ Julian: True enough. I believe the present moment is so profound that an entire blog can be dedicated to it.
