I haven’t been blogging as consistently as I want to, which is why I’m making a public declaration to all who read this:
I’ll be publishing two posts a week for the next eight weeks.
While I’m using a public declaration to get myself to post more frequently, you can use this strategy for various areas of your life.
If you’re on a diet, trying to quit smoking, or trying to exercise a few times a week, simply tell people who you frequently see what you’re committed to doing.
Why this strategy works so well
If, for example, you tell your friends you’re absolutely committed to quit smoking, you’ll cringe at smoking in their presence. Additionally, your friends will likely ask you about your progress occasionally which will make you even more committed to your goal.
Accountability is a powerful force that gives us extra motivation we otherwise wouldn’t have.
I’ve made a public pledge to you that I will post twice a week for the next eight weeks.
If I fail at this public declaration I will feel really stupid.
Which is why I’ll succeed.
P.S. – This discipline begins this week. See you on Friday.

I’m here to support you with your public declaration Ryan – just ask if you need encouragement along the way.

I agree, this method works so well. Peer pressure is a very powerful force 🙂
And if we can use it to improve self discipline, lets go for it 🙂
Definitely. Thanks for visiting.
