How to Be Great

by Bamboo Forest

Deep in meditation I realized something:

Every choice we make defines us.

Everything you do in each second of the day contributes to defining who you are.

This is good news but it’s also bad news.

The good news is, you have the power right now to channel all your being into defining yourself in ways that epitomize greatness. Flip side–your choices can do the opposite.

But you have this moment right now to determine who you are. I advise you make choices reflecting the identity you want for yourself.

Greatness Requires Questions

Greatness is only a question away.

I want you to ask yourself this question: Who would I be if I was the person I dreamed of being?

Being that person, would you have self mastery over yourself? Would you be organized? Would you avoid approaching a cute guy or girl from fear of embarrassment? Would your diet be healthful? How often would you exercise? Would you be happy? Would you be wise? Would you live in alignment with your definition of greatness?

Greatness is In Your Hands

Answering the question of who you’d be if you were the person of your dreams, was your answer in alignment with who you are right now?

If you’re like me, the answer’s no. But if you’re also like me, you’re committed to changing that all, now. And the way to change that begins and ends with the choices you make, right now.

How you use your present moments is how you choose to define yourself. Rejecting this reality won’t change it. In fact, rejecting it will be a choice made that contributes to how you choose to use your present moments, which contributes to how you define yourself.

There’s no escape.

So then, what is greatness?

The beginning of greatness is using your intellect and answering the following question as honestly as possible: Who do I really want to be?

How well you live up to the answer of that question determines your potential level of greatness.

If you’re reading this, you can join me in striving to live up to the answer of that question with each passing second.

Greatness is now our destiny.
